Koshari is a traditional fast food meal in Egypt and the Middle East. It is made from lentils, rice and pasta and served with fresh tomato soup. Try Koshary at Abou Tarek in Cairo!
Ingedients
100 g little brown lentils
100 g small pasta (macaroni)
100 g white rice
2 cups tomato sauce (tomatoes cut in pieces)
1 clove garlic, crushed
Salt, pepper, sugar
4 tablespoons roasted onions
vinegar and/or hot sauce
Preparation
Bring lentils to a boil (salted water). Allow simmer on low until tender. Cook macaroni and rice in separate pans until al dente. Mix lentils, rice and pasta in a large pot.
Place lentils mixture on a plate, cover with tomato sauce and sprinkle with vinegar and/or hot sauce.
